About - Oludeniz - Turkey
LOCATION: Oludeniz is reached after a steep mountain decent approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) to the south of the villages of Hisaronu and Ovacik. On reaching the beach area Oludeniz and resort area lies to the left and to the right is the famous lagoon.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Oludeniz one of Turkey's most famous and photographed beaches adorning many travel magazines and brochures, with crystal clear turquoise waters and gentle lapping waves, where the line between sea and sky blend into one. At the far end of the beach to the right you will find the 'lagoon' set inside a national park area. Not visible from the open sea the lagoon is very sheltered with still, warm waters. Mother nature's finishing touch was to surround this heaven on earth with a spectacular mountain and pine forest backdrop. The main resort and hotels are
restricted to an area to the left on reaching the
BEACHES: The main beach area of Oludeniz is an open free beach, entry to the lagoon area however is by payment. You can expect crowded beaches during the height of the summer months. The lagoon area is very safe for bathing as the waters are very calm and there are many sandy areas. Further along from Oludeniz is another beach called 'Kidrak' (Paradise beach) quiet and secluded with a woodland area perfect for picnics.
SHOPPING: During the summer months many well stocked mini-markets, gift shops, and many bars, cafes and restaurants offering both local and international cuisine catering for every taste. There is a local market on Mondays in Hisaronu just off the main Hisaronu/Oludeniz roundabout where you will find many bargains, there is also a fresh vegetable and fruit market.
ENTERTAINMENT: Daytime
-a good selection of local trips and excursions including local
island boat trips, jeep safari (from Fethiye) horse riding through
Nightlife - Oludeniz comes alive after dark with its many gift shops, lively bars, some with live entertainment and of course many restaurants catering for every taste. Some hotels during the summer season offer 'Turkish Nights' and traditional entertainment.
TRANSPORT: During the summer season frequent dolmus (mini bus) which can be hailed anywhere on route to Fethiye town and surrounding areas. Car, motor scooter and bicycle hire are all available and taxis are plentiful.

for the more adventurous paragliding from Babadag mountain or
Microlighting (from Ovacik) and some water sports are available at
Oludeniz.
